munro + whitten are the landscape designers for the external hard and soft landscape to the new Derby College Roundhouse campus. Based on the former railway engine roundhouse and workshops the college has introduced new buildings to provide a modern educational facility.
This video shows the central court landscape that has a synergy with both the older buildings and the new contemporary architecture. Using bold shapes and forms in the planting that are reflected in the paving the new space offers a new urban environment for students, staff and visitors to meet and relax with break out spaces linked to cafes and study areas in the main buildings. Specimen trees and mature hedges will create an immediate impact within this important space.
